The expert body for the coordination and control of the implementation of the Intervening Measures Plan for Excessive Air Pollution in the Sarajevo Canton declared a state of preparedness in Sarajevo Canton due to increased air pollutant concentrations.
The results of air quality monitoring by automated stations in the Sarajevo Canton have shown, during the previous day, the limit value for the concentrations of solid particles in the air was exceeded - PM10 of 50µg / m3, as well as exceeding the limit values for the sulfur dioxide of 125 µg / m3 in the area of Ilidža and Otoka.
By analyzing the state of air quality and meteorological conditions, the Expert Body concluded that the cause of high values of SO2 in the air in the Sarajevo Canton is pollution from the Kakanj Thermal Power Plant.
Other monitored pollutants did not record exceeding the daily limit values, the Press Service of the Sarajevo canton announced.
