The FB&H Assistant Minister of Health Goran Čerkez told FENA that the Crisis Staff of the FB&H Ministry of Health recommended that children aged six to ten do not have to wear masks during classes and that the recommendation was in line with the guidelines of the World Health Organization and UNICEF.

Commenting on the instruction of the Ministry of Education of the Sarajevo Canton stating that children in primary and secondary schools must wear masks, Čerkez said that the measures of the Crisis Staff of the FB&H Ministry of Health remain the same, that they did not change and should be fully respected.

-These measures are distancing between the children in the class, a limited number of students in the class and the obligation of the teacher to wear a mask. Nowhere in our recommendations does it say that children of that age should wear masks behind their desks- Čerkez explained.

However, he pointed out that they have issued instructions to cantonal crisis headquarters to take measures together with the ministries of education based on the assessed situation.

-The education is in the competence of the cantons. We respected the constitutional jurisdiction because the situation varies from canton to canton- said Čerkez.
