According to the 2013 census of population, households and dwellings in Bosnia and Herzegovina, out of a total of 3,531,159 inhabitants, there were 1,798,889 or 51 percent of women, 1,131,227 in the Federation of B&H, 625,396 in the Republic of Srpska and 42,266 in the Brčko District.
There are 789,717 (44 percent) of women living in urban areas, and 1,009,172 (56 percent) women living in other types of settlements.
Out of a total of 406,898 employed women in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2013, 315,056 or 77 percent worked in seven sectors: 76,460 in wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, 61,273 in manufacturing, 43,960 in health and social work activities, 41,584 in education, 36,501 in public administration and defense, compulsory social security, 32,215 in agriculture, forestry and fishing and 23,063 in accommodation and food service sectors.
According to occupation, most B&H women worked as - service occupations and salespersons 102,758, experts 81,341, technicians and professional associates 62,950, office workers and related occupations 43,287 and simple occupations 38,032. Out of the total number of employed women, 10,290 women worked in the positions of managers, the Agency for Statistics of B&H announced.
