Vaccination against COVID-19 with the donated vaccines from the Government of the Republic of Serbia, started today in some health institutions in the Zenica-Doboj Canton, confirmed to FENA the director of the Institute for Health and Food Safety in Zenica, Senad Huseinagić.

He reminded that the canton received 740 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and that they were all distributed to health institutions.

-The vaccination started today in the Zenica Cantonal Hospital (KBZ) and the Tešanj General Hospital (OBT), and probably tomorrow the health centers in our canton will start with vaccinations. About 2,000 health workers have expressed a desire to be vaccinated, which means that with this contingent we can vaccinate one-third of those interested- Huseinagić points out.

He believes that there will be no problems with the provision of vaccines for revaccination of medical staff, which must be done in a period of four to 12 weeks because our country has a signed guarantee with the Republic of Serbia for the delivery of another 5,000 doses of vaccines from the same manufacturer and that the same type of vaccines were donated by the Republic of Slovenia.

Director of KBZ, Rasim Skomorac, who contracted coronavirus infection at the end of last year, says that the situation in KBZ is getting worse in terms of the number and severity of the clinical state of those hospitalized due to COVID-19 infection.

-Currently, we have 106 hospitalized patients, but it should be noted that our Intensive Care Unit for Covid patients is completely at capacity - all 16 beds in that ward, and in the last 24 hours, we had five deceased patients- says Skomorac.
