The Council of the European Union today extended the mandates of the EU Special Representatives (EUSR) in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo for two years, ie until August 31, 2023, it was announced from Brussels.

Johann Sattler was first appointed on August 8, 2019, with the task of contributing to the achievement of the following policy goals:

- continuous progress in the Stabilization and Association Process;

- ensuring a stable, viable , peaceful, multiethnic and united country that cooperates peacefully with its neighbors, and

- ensuring that the country is irreversibly on track towards EU membership.
