The Belgian royal couple will observe a quarantine as a COVID-19 case was detected in the family, the royal palace announced on Thursday.
-Following a confirmed COVID-19 case within the Royal Family, Their Majesties the King and Queen have decided to limit their contacts in the coming days as a precaution, in accordance with the health regulations in force- the Belgian monarchs said in a statement.
One of the royal couple’s younger children got the virus, the Belga news agency reported, referring to a source close to the palace.
Despite both tested negative, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde canceled all their official programs until Sept. 6.
Over the past week, 2,008 people were diagnosed with COVID-19 on a daily average in Belgium that indicates an incidence rate of 242 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Meanwhile, 85% of the adult population received at least one of the recommended doses of COVID-19-vaccines.
